SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABLE EVENTS:
DOME EVENTHALL’S COMMITMENT TO A GREENER FUTURE

Events, big or small, have traditionally been associated with excess and waste. However, as environmental concerns take center stage globally, the event sector is adapting to a new paradigm – one where sustainability becomes not just a choice but a necessity. At Dome Eventhall, eco-consciousness is not just a response to a trend. It has been a mindset since the very beginning.

ECO BUILDING

Dome Eventhall and the entire building of which it is a part have been built in an environmentally friendly way, using natural resources obtained from the surrounding area, and using sustainable ways of transportation.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

The venue always opts for eco-friendly materials and furnishings,… Our uniforms and work clothes carry the Oeko-tex 100 label, printers and paper are Blue Angel certified, and the toiletries are CO2 neutral. All the furniture on site is second-hand and the cleaning team uses eco-friendly products and solutions.

ENERGY EFFICIENT

Dome Eventhall prioritizes energy efficiency by utilizing energy-saving technologies, such as 100% LED lighting, but also motion sensors, and efficient heating and cooling systems. Daylight shines through every event room, avoiding to waste energy during daytime events.

5.000 m² of solar panels installed by the complex generate no less than 520 MWh per year, which is equivalent to the average consumption of 115 households in Brussels. From cooling and heating systems to the ventillation process, all the facilities have been designed to be sustainable. For example: heating is produced by recovering heat from the Brussels incinerator.

WATER & BIODIVERSITY

We employ water-saving strategies like lowflow fixtures and water-efficient appliances. A 580 m³ harvesting basin harvests, filters and treats rainwater, which is then used in the mall for numerous applications (sanitary, cleaning process, cooling system, etc.). Our grass-filled plant beds are well-suited to our climate and require less water than non-native species. The lawn is mown using the mulching method. This method helps recycling nutrients, reducing water usage, avoiding waste and ban the use of chemical products.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

The Dome prioritizes waste reduction, recycling, and proper disposal. We have designated recycling stations and encourage the use of reusable or compostable products instead of single-use items. We also work together with Alpaca Solutions, who manages the food leftovers on events. Complementary to food redistribution, they offer a service of collection and treatment by biomethanization of what they cannot give to associations. Leftover plates or kitchen waste are transformed into energy and returned to the earth as fertilizer.

TRANSPORTATION AND ACCESSIBILITY

We promote accessible and eco-friendly transportation options, such as public transit, bike racks, and electric vehicle charging stations that are provided by the mall in our 1.700-space parking. The train stops a 5 minutes’ walk away from our venue. The tram and the bus stop right in front of our doors. Take your bike or Villo! and park at our entrance. Want a more original transportation? Come with the Waterbus.
